Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ): Open Calls for Research Funding

The Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ) has announced new calls for proposals and public calls aimed at supporting research activities, research career development and international scientific cooperation.

The following calls are currently open:

Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) 2026

The international call supports research and innovation projects contributing to climate-neutral and sustainable cities and the development and implementation of innovative solutions addressing key urban challenges.

  • Proposal submission deadline: 17 November 2026
  • Proposals are submitted by international consortia.

Bilateral Swiss-Croatian Research Projects (IPCH-2026-10)

The call, implemented within the Weave initiative, supports joint research projects involving Croatian and Swiss research teams across all scientific disciplines.

Application procedure: The Swiss project leader, in cooperation with the Croatian partner, prepares and submits the joint project proposal to the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). At the same time, the Croatian applicant submits the research project application to the Croatian Science Foundation.

  • Application deadline: 8 October 2026, 12:00 CET
  • Funding for the Croatian part of the project: EUR 60,000–200,000
  • Funding period: 4 years

Bilateral German-Croatian Research Projects (IPDE-2026-12)

The call, implemented within the Weave initiative, supports joint research projects involving Croatian and German research teams across all scientific disciplines.

Application procedure: The German project leader, in cooperation with the Croatian partner, prepares and submits the joint project proposal to the permanently open call of the German Research Foundation (DFG). At the same time, the Croatian applicant submits the research project application to the Croatian Science Foundation.

  • Application deadline: 31 December 2026, 17:00 CET
  • Funding for the Croatian part of the project: EUR 60,000–200,000
  • Funding period: 3 years
