fAIth Project Meeting Explores Applications in the Banking Sector

The fAIth project started on 1 April 2026 and will run for 36 months, until 31 March 2029. The project is implemented under the call “IRI S3 – Increasing the Development of New Products and Services Resulting from Research and Development Activities” (PK.1.1.12), within the Competitiveness and Cohesion Programme 2021–2027, with co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The total value of the project is EUR 3,138,229.26, while FOI’s share in the total project value amounts to EUR 420,052. Solvership d.o.o. is the applicant and project coordinator, while the project partners are Velebit umjetna inteligencija d.o.o. and the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics.

A project meeting of the fAIth project was held at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin on 15 September 2026. The meeting focused on the application of the solution under development in the banking sector, a review of project activities and results achieved so far, and the definition of guidelines for the continuation of project work.

Representatives of Solvership d.o.o., Anita Cvetić Oreščanin, Kristijan Pavlović and Goran Gvozden, presented fAIth and its role in connecting research and development activities with industry needs.

Mladen Fernežir from Velebit umjetna inteligencija d.o.o. presented the results of modelling loan approval predictions using the HMDA dataset, while Domagoj Šebalj from the Faculty of Organization and Informatics presented activities related to the application of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) methods to the developed models.

Particular emphasis was placed on linking the modelling results with explainability methods and the requirements of the fAIth solution, as well as on the possibilities for applying the developed approaches in a real-world banking environment.

Prof. Dunja Mladenić from the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana took part in the meeting, contributing her extensive expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence through scientific advisory support. The meeting provided an opportunity for the project partners to exchange knowledge and experience, reflect on the results achieved so far, and coordinate the next steps in the development, testing, and evaluation of the solution for the banking use case.
