The meeting was hosted by Agrupamento de Escolas de Mangualde, which is well known for its strong focus on STEM education, robotics, sustainability, and interdisciplinary learning.

FOI was represented at the meeting by Full Prof. Igor Balaban, PhD, Head of the FOI project team, and Assoc. Prof. Goran Hajdin, PhD. During the meeting, the active role of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics within the project was highlighted, particularly in the areas of research, the development of piloting methodology, and the monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of humanoid robots in education.

Professor Balaban presented FOI’s contribution to the project, including a workshop on onboarding teachers and students to work with the NAO humanoid robot, as well as a draft plan for piloting teaching scenarios. Special emphasis was placed on the research and evaluation instruments that will be used to monitor the implementation and effects of robot-assisted teaching in schools.
During the two-day meeting, project partners exchanged experiences related to teacher training for working with the NAO robot, presented concrete teaching scenarios, and agreed on a piloting plan to be implemented in partner schools across Europe. The discussions focused on the pedagogical value, inclusiveness, and practical applicability of the scenarios in real classroom settings.

FOI’s participation in this meeting further confirmed its important role in this international project focused on innovation in education, digital transformation, and the meaningful use of artificial intelligence and humanoid robots in teaching.
