On Wednesday and Thursday 26th and 27th January 2022., lead partner on the project Univerza v Mariboru, Fakulteta za organizacijske vede (University of Maribor), organized an online kickoff meeting for the Erasmus+ project BEE with APEX. The duration of the project is from November 2021. Until November 2023. Project is financed by Erasmus+ programme, +, KA220-HED – Cooperation partnership in higher education.
The main goal of the project is to develop a short course on low-code programming introducing students to the foundations of APEX and basic application and database design and development training will be created and recorded in all 6 languages of the project consortium (Croatian, Slovene, Greek, German, Polish and English). The course will include digital assessments and interactive materials and will be open access. It will be suitable for use by anyone and will incorporate real-life business cases. An extra-curricular advanced course will be developed on the bachelor’s level in the areas of low-code application and database development will be created and piloted. The course’s curriculum will comprise lectures, practical exercises, assessments, exams, and independent learning for a total of 75 hours, which is equivalent to 3 ECTS. The partner institutions will prepare all documentation needed to get the course recognized and awarded with 3 ECTS. The curriculum will not be copyrighted. It will be open access and made available to any other educational institution or any individual interested in independent learning. For the project duration, the course will be piloted on 100 bachelor-level students (25 students from the lead partner and 15 students from each of the other 5 partner institutions). No previous knowledge will be required and students from any major will be encouraged to register for the course. Learning, teaching, and assessment materials for the course will be prepared, and an e-book in English will be published. 12 self-contained case studies targeted at both students and representatives of the business sector will be created in the languages of the consortium partners and in English. The case studies will demonstrate how APEX can be used as a prototyping and analytical tool, lead to improvement of business processes, and development manageability. The case studies will concentrate on the green and digital economies generating local positive examples for tackling environmental issues and digital transformations. 6 academic articles will be written and presented on topics related to low-code development. Furthermore, events for vocational secondary school students will be organized as well as presentations to the academic and business community.
The faculty of organization and informatics project team is in charge of the development of a short course on low-code programming in APEX and for the development of 12 case studies based on real business cases.
