Start of the AppAI project

The University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics (UNIZG FOI), through its Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (AI Lab), is actively participating in the new European project "Automation of Business Processes Powered by Artificial Intelligence" (AppAI), which officially started on May 1, 2025.

The AppAI project is focused on the development of advanced solutions based on artificial intelligence for the automation of accounting processes and document management, which directly contributes to the digital transformation and strengthening of the competitiveness of the economy in the Northern Croatia region.

The project leader at the FOI is Prof. Markus Schatten, Ph. D. and the research team also includes Assoc. Prof. Igor Tomičić, Ph. D.  Asst. Prof. Bogdan Okreša Đurić, Ph. D. and Tomislav Peharda, M. Inf. The project plans to employ one research expert, one junior research expert and a project administrator.

The project consortium consists of IT and technology companies: Softcon d.o.o. (project leader), Info3 d.o.o., Itelius d.o.o., Control Plus d.o.o. and FOI as a scientific and research partner.

The three-year project, with a total value of €1,635,667.34, will last until April 30, 2028, and is co-financed by the European Union through the Integrated Territorial Programme 2021-2027, within the call "Strengthening strategic partnerships for innovation in the process of industrial transition" (IP.1.1.03).

Project
