Prof. Blaženka Divjak, PhD presented in a gallery of portraits – Women of Mathematics throughout Europe

Women in mathematics
This year, for the occasion of the Day of Mathematicians, European Women in Mathematics association prepared an interesting publication and exhibition of portraits of mathematicians from different European countries.

The Women of Mathematics Across Europe tour is an exhibition whose starting point was in July 2016 in Berlin. The initiative aims to present the different mathematicians and areas in which they work, but also what obstacles and opportunities they encounter in their careers.

This year's exhibition was edited by Sylvie Paycha and Noel Tovia Matoff as part of the 8th European Congress of Mathematics, and is hosted by the University of Primorska. The organizer of the exhibition is the Committee for Women at the Society of Mathematicians, Physicists and Astronomers of Slovenia (DMFA). The committee is dedicated to promoting study of mathematics, physics and astronomy among girls and women and advocates for women’s achievements in science. The exhibition Women of Mathematics throughout Europe is open from 15 May to 30 June 2021 at the Armerija Palace in Koper, Slovenia (Tito Square 4).

We are proud that prof. Blaženka Divjak, PhD was chosen in 20 presented mathematicians.

Prof. dr. sc. Blaženka Divjak

Mathematics is often considered difficult, abstract and cold, and therefore completely "unfeminine". However, there are more and more women who do research in different areas of mathematics, although men still dominate in number and recognizability - says prof. Divjak.
