FOI allotted 3 million HRK to further develop innovations in the learning design

The Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb, has been approved a new international Erasmus+ project with the role of the coordinator! The project titled “Innovating Learning Design in Higher Education” (iLed) is led by Full Prof. Blaženka Divjak, Ph.D. and worth more than 3 million HRK (400.000 EUR). The project is a cooperative partnership in higher education and it is going to last for 3 years. iLed is the only project which has been allotted funds in that category and it has been graded with the highest grades.

Alongside FOI, the School of Medicine is also included into this project as an already traditional partner from the University of Zagreb in similar projects. The project also gathers renown partners from three different countries: J.W. Goethe University (Germany), Oulu University (Finland) and Open University (the UK).

As a part of the project, the development of the widely recognized and innovative learning design tool “Balanced Learning Design Planning” is set to be furthered. Its development has been started in the previous Erasmus+ project titled “Relevant assessment and pedagogies for inclusive digital education” (RAPIDE). The tool is based on modern research, theories and practices; it starts with learning outcomes and principles of student orientedness and learning analytics application. It is publicly available so it is already being used in the design of more than 200 courses in more than 20 countries around the world, even though it is still in its pilot phase.

“This project shows that FOI is, with its partners, making a step forward in innovations by using interdisciplinary approaches in the development of new concepts and tools competitive on the international level. It uses interdisciplinary knowledge and skills of partners in the field of educational technologies and science, mathematics (analytics) and informatics (design and tool development) in order to promote a modern way of learning”, Full Prof. Blaženka Divjak, Ph.D., the project coordinator, has stated.

With the encouragement of further innovation application (concepts, appropriate algorithms and tools) in the learning design, the project will, on the international level, motivate joint application of learning design in virtual environment, learning flexibility, as well as the improvement of higher education teacher competencies in the field of digital pedagogy implementation (trough Massive Open Online Course).

With key emphases on the learning design and learning analytics, the project further bolsters the development of micro credentials implementation and digital certificates as valuable initiatives in the field of EU education.

Congratulations to Full Prof. Blaženka Divjak, Ph.D. and her team on this great success!
