Indigenum
On 22 April 2026, the kick-off conference and initial project meeting of INDIGENUM – Innovative Digital Solutions for Increasing Energy Efficiency in the Cross-Border Area were held.

The INDIGENUM project is co-financed by the Interreg Slovenia – Croatia 2021–2027 programme and is focused on the development and implementation of advanced digital and AI solutions that will help citizens and public authorities increase the energy efficiency of their facilities and improve their digital literacy.

Through the digitalisation of public services within the project, citizens and other target groups will be enabled to access relevant information in the field of energy efficiency more easily. Through future project activities, the capacities of local self-government units will be further strengthened, and knowledge necessary for initiating and implementing their own projects in the field of energy efficiency will be developed.

Two lectures on artificial intelligence were also held, during which participants had the opportunity to learn more about the role of AI technologies through practical examples. The first lecture was delivered by Vjeran Strahonja, Prof. emer., and Assoc. Prof. Dijana Oreški, Ph.D., from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organisation and Informatics in Varaždin, spoke on the implementation and improvement of their own artificial intelligence systems, while Maja Novak from the organisation We4you spoke on artificial intelligence for municipalities, with practical examples for greater efficiency and higher-quality municipal services.

Following the kick-off conference, the initial project meeting was held. The meeting brought together all project partners with the aim of presenting all project components, project management activities, and communication, as well as defining the responsibilities of all partners and aligning the initial steps and deadlines for the implementation of activities.
