University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics (UNIZG FOI) is one of the project partners. The project leader at UNIZG FOI was Prof. Markus Schatten, Ph.D., head of the UNIZG FOI Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, and 9 other experts from UNIZG FOI participated in the project by holding student workshops with cognitive agents, conducting a series of workshops for teachers and professional associates, and participating in the creation of new curriculum.
The project was financed under the call "Strengthening STEM skills in primary schools and development of regional scientific centers for primary school education in the STEM field". The project worth almost 450,000.00 EUR was financed by the Kingdom of Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
The leading institution of the project was the II. Primary School in Varaždin, in partnership with University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics (UNIZG FOI) and NT Gruppen AS from Norway.
Through a two-year project, the II. Primary School in Varaždin underwent a digital transformation through the STEAM concept by equipping 4 classrooms and an observatory, comprehensive teacher education, curriculum development and activities for students. The main goal of the project was to improve the STEM skills of students and teachers in the school by introducing the STEAM school framework at all levels of the educational program.
